Fall 2008-Winter 2009 Class Schedule
Beginning Knitting or Beginning Crochet—–Every Saturday!
And starting September 2, Beginning Knitting is every Tuesday night!
From the completely inexperienced to experts of old needing a refresher course to beginners needing help on their first projects, this class is a rolling introduction to the basics. Sign up for as many sessions as you want or need. A scarf, hat, or felted bag make great beginner projects!
$25/session
3 sessions for $50
5 sessions for $75

Beginning Knitting Saturdays, 12 – 2 pm
Tuesdays, 6-8 pm
Beginning Crochet Saturdays, 4 – 6 pm
Materials are not included,
but 10% off everything in the store while enrolled in a class!
Private Lessons are always available! Knitting & Crochet. $20/hr.
*You don’t have to sign up for consecutive weeks, but you must sign up for all classes at once to qualify for the discount. Please call ahead of time to reserve your spot.
Cables $35 + materials
Untangle this essential knitting technique by making a hat (original design by Tonya Wagner) or a scarf (the ever popular Irish Hiking Scarf). Both projects make wonderful gifts!

Hat: 90 yards of bulky weight yarn, US 10.5 16 inch circular and double pointed
Scarf: 350 yards of worsted weight yarn, US 8 needles
Both: Cable needle
Fetching $45 + materials
These fingerless mitts are a favorite project at the Knit Nook. Learn how to knit with double pointed needles, make cables, pick up stitches, without investing a lot of time or yarn. You’ll make a pair for all of your friends!
Wednesday, September 3, 10, and 17, 6-8 pm
Materials: 100+ yards of Aran weight yarn, US 6 DPN
Basic Socks $45 + materials
If socks and double pointed needles have intimidated you in the past, now’s your chance to face your fears! These basic socks are knitted on larger needles out of worsted weight yarn, but you will still learn the fundamentals of sock construction. Your friends will be amazed! And if you still detest the double pointed, try knitting your socks on 2 sets of circular needles.

Materials:
250 yards of worsted weight yarn (preferably super wash wool)
US 8 double pointed or 2 sets of circulars, at least 16 inch in length
Hat and Mittens $45 + materials
The meat and potatoes of knitting, these simple projects are a great intro to knitting in the round. Purling isn’t even required! Knit your hat and mittens in worsted or chunky weight yarn.

Baby Shrug $35 + materials
If sweaters have intimidated you in the past, get your feet wet by knitting this baby shrug. Top down and without fronts, this is a fast knit that will fit any baby or toddler in your life.

If you love making bags, expand your horizons! Shaped with short rows and knit with double bottoms, these are comfortable, warm, and make great gifts!

Materials: 400 yards worsted weight wool in main color, 80 yards of worsted weight in contrasting color, US 13 24 inch circular needles, spare 24 inch circular needle in smaller size (Make sure yarn can be felted!)
Argyle Vest $45 + materials
Intarsia is a color work technique where blocks of colors are worked with separate balls of yarn, producing a single layer of fabric. Learn intarsia, duplicate stitch, reading charts, as well as the basics of garment construction by making this adorable argyle vest. The pattern includes adult sizes, but make a baby vest to finish by the end of the class.

Fair Isle $45 + materials
Put a little color in your knitting. Learn how to knit using two colors, hold the yarn with two hands, and read a color chart. For your first attempt, knit a hat; or if you’re more advanced, try the Endpaper Mitts.

Endpaper Mitts US 0 and 1 double pointed needles 100 yards of sock or sport weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors
Fair Isle Hat US 8 needles, 16 inch circular and double pointed 75 yards of worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors

Baby Surprise Jacket $45 + materials
Knit in garter stitch, flat, and in one piece, this sweater is cleverly shaped with short rows: a true Elizabeth Zimmerman classic. Use a variegated yarn or multiple colors to emphasize the mitered fronts.

Six Week Sweater Class: Zephyr Style $75 + materials
Zephyr Style patterns are notorious for modern styling, simple top down construction, and knitter satisfaction! Choose either the Ms. Marigold vest, the Wicked (short or long sleeves), or the Green Gable. You can’t go wrong!

Six Week Sweater Class: Cobblestone $75 + materials
Can’t find a sweater to knit for the man in your life? The Cobblestone is a simple yoked sweater designed by a man! Knit in the round with worsted weight yarn, this knits up quickly and you will hardly have to sew any seams! Or, check out the mods on Ravelry and knit it for the lady in your life!

Materials: 1200-1900 yards of worsted weight yarn (depending on size), US 7, 16 in and 32 in circulars and DPN, pattern included in class fee.
Six Week Sweater Class: Top Down $75 + materials
If you’ve struggled with fit and construction with your sweater knitting in the past, top down knitting is for you! Avoid seams and try your sweater on as your knitting it to get the best fit. Make a cardigan or a pullover.
Wednesday, January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4, and 11, 6-8 pm

Private Lessons
Private Lessons are always available! Please call and schedule the time (and you know the place). $20/hour.
Groups and specialty classes can also be scheduled. Prices vary. Call us to plan your party, event, or project class.
Fine Print
Class sizes are restricted. There must be a minimum of two and no more
than seven students in each class. If a class does not meet the minimum
enrollment requirement, it will be cancelled and full refunds will be
made.
50% pre-payment is required to secure a space; the rest is due on the first day of class. If a class is full, students who have not paid a deposit will be bumped from the class.
Materials are not included (unless otherwise noted, usually for patterns), but students will receive 10% off of everything in store while enrolled in class.
Student discount applies to everything for sale in the store (even
clearance items), but is only good for the duration of the class. The
only exception are sales events when everything in the store is marked
down; in that case, student will receive discount that is the highest,
but will be unable to combine discounts together. It is the student’s
responsibility to remind the cashier about their discounts; no
retroactive discounts will be given.
Knit Nook yarn must be used in all classes. No exceptions.
